What is a divine opportunity?
It is an occasion or an event designed by God to promote and bless somebody. Many people have lost miracles because they were not able to see their divine opportunities when it came 1 Samuel 17: 29 “And David said, what have I done? Is there not a cause”. David was a shepherd boy but his father decided to send him on errand to find out how his elder brothers were doing in the war front. At this time, Goliath was threatening the armies of Israel and there was no solution to Goliath. When David saw Goliath, he started asking questions about this giant and when his brother Eliab saw him, he was not happy but David responded that there was a reason for him to be there, and actually there was a reason. All the Israelites including Saul their King were seeing giant but David saw a divine opportunity. It was the battle against Goliath that made David famous. So fighting Goliath was a divine opportunity for David.
od does not rain money from heaven but what he gives to people is an opportunity that will bless and promote their lives. 1 Chronicles 12:32 talks about the sons Isachar having understanding of times to know what to do. What we need these days is to have an understanding of the times so that we will be able to know our time of visitation (Luke 19:44)
Examples of people who utilized their divine opportunities.
-
Abraham: In Genesis 18, Abraham hosted heavenly beings who in turn blessed him and prophetically declared that Sarah his wife would have a babe. Abraham hospitability was an opportunity for him to host heavenly beings whom some bible scholars said were the holy trinity (God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Ghost).
-
Rahab: In Joshua 2, Rahab who was a harlot and an unbeliever had an opportunity to write her name in the book of record and she utilized it by hosting the spies of the Israelites.
-
Ruth: In Ruth, we saw another woman who was a (Moabite) but who had an opportunity to change her eternal destiny and grapped it with her two hands and today, because of that singular incident, her name is written in the bible.
-
Peter: In Luke 5, Jesus was preaching by the sea side and as the crowd increased, he asked Peter to let him use his boat to preach the Gospel and Peter obliged and because of that encounter, Peter was automatically made a fisher of men and not a fisher of fish and there and then, his destiny was discovered.
- Widow of Zarephath: 1 King 17:8, Elijah the Man of God came to this widow and asked her to prepare him a meal to eat but the widow told him that she had only a handful of a meal and a little oil to prepare for herself and her son to eat and die. But when Elijah insisted she prepared the meal for the man of God and afterwards she had an abundance. It was an opportunity for her to be blessed in abundance and she utilized it. If she had eaten that meal with her son, they would have died. Sacrificial giving is an opportunity for us to be blessed.
We need to open our lives and be wise to know our time of visitation.
